A Section on Public Address Announcers

I really enjoy the BallparkTour section on ballpark organists. I think it's a shame the way so many ballparks have eliminated organ music in favor of canned music, especially when the canned music they play is often loud, angry hip-hop, rap or head-banger music.

I'd like to see BallparkTour add a companion feature on ballpark announcers--the "unseen voices" who deliver the starting lineups, tell us who's at bat and inform us of pitching changes and pinch hitters. I think it would make a very interesting feature.

There have been a lot of notable public address announcers in baseball history; many of whom became almost synonymous with the teams they announced for. Examples include the late Rex Barney with the Baltimore Orioles; the late Sherm Feller with the Boston Red Sox; the late Bob Casey with the Minnesota Twins; the late Jack Layton with my hometown Kansas City Royals; John Ramsey with both the Los Angeles Dodgers and the California Angels; and last, but certainly not least, the "Voice of God" himself (according to Reggie Jackson, anyway)--Bob Sheppard with the New York Yankees.

I encourage other visitors to BallparkTour to get on board with this suggestion.
